Franchiseor of Scooters Pizza Ferndale inject fresh life into management of store

Scooters Pizza Ferndale is set to benefit greatly from enhanced managerial and strategic value, following the recent acquisition of the store by Allister Gertse and Anil Roscoe.

Gertse and Roscoe were previously employed at a well-known banking institution as management information system analysts for an iPad projects team. Jeanne Geldenhuys, Managing Executive of Scooters Pizza asserts that this background experience will enable Gertse and Roscoe to enhance the business model and value offering at Scooters Pizza Ferndale.

“Both Allister and Anil have gained invaluable experience in the corporate world, which has allowed them to develop considerable strategic and business focused managerial skills. I am highly confident that these learned traits, along with the fact that both of them are highly professional, motivated and enthusiastic people, will ensure that the store is run proficiently, which will translate into long term financial growth.”

Gertse states that he and Roscoe have ambitious plans for the store, with the intent to increase total orders per day by 30%, and increase the average spend by 10% within the next three months. He adds that they intend to achieve this goal by employing a hands-on management style and closely monitoring product quality, while also encouraging staff to exceed service expectations through performance incentives.

He further notes that the entire staff at Scooters Pizza Ferndale has responded positively to the change in management, and is receptive to the direction in which the new management wants to take the store.

Scooters Pizza offers hungry consumers a varied menu consisting of a number of traditional and speciality pizzas, as well as pizones, subs, wraps, side dishes and desserts.

Gertse concludes that he is confident of creating business sustainability for Scooters Pizza Ferndale.

“Through passion, perseverance and hard work, I truly believe that Scooter’s Pizza Ferndale will deliver on its promise and live up to customers’ expectations, with impeccable service provided, and only the tastiest meals served.

“Ultimately, this value offering will allow Ferndale residents to receive a slice of the good life, which I am positive will result in the development of a loyal customer base that will drive long term success for the store.”

Scooters Pizza Ballito’s bold rebranding process attracts and retains customers

Scooters Pizza Ballito is set to significantly increase its market share in Kwazulu-Natal following a comprehensive rebranding recently undertaken by the store. The makeover involved renovations being completed in the entire front section of the store, with the introduction of a design transformation to the Scooters Pizza logo, tagline, menu, signage and in-store furnishings.

Taste Holdings Food Division CEO, Christo Calitz says that he is confident that the store refresh will help Scooters Pizza Ballito to considerably bolster its business.

“Ballito is a rapidly growing community, and contains a selective customer base that is not only expectant of receiving the best value for money, but they also want a warm and welcoming environment in which to purchase food. Simultaneously, Scooters Pizza also identified that customers found the old Ballito store to be in need of a revamp, so we listened to them, and took the decision to upgrade the store.

“Subsequently, the rebranding has given the store a new lease of life, and our customers have already responded favourably to the new look. We are therefore confident that the refresh has significantly strengthened the store’s value offering, and will allow Scooters Pizza Ballito to grow its existing base by attracting new customers as well.”

Scooters Pizza Ballito store owner Sharmallan Pillay notes that the store refresh has also improved brand awareness, as the store is now far more noticeable and recognisable to customers. He adds that the move to rebrand ultimately shows respect for the customer, as it demonstrates Scooters Pizza Ballito is committed to making the consumer experience as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.

Pillay concludes that he is determined to ensure that the store becomes entrenched in the Kwazulu-Natal market.

“I’m looking forward to maintaining Scooter Pizza’s immaculate brand reputation by ensuring that the store lives up to its full potential in the Ballito market. My team and I are also determined to provide great customer service as we know that it’s the key element that will ultimately set our store apart from the rest, and allow it to thrive well in to the future.”

Scooters Pizza gets the ovens heated up in Fairlands

Pizza lovers in Fairlands now have reason to chase away the winter chill and welcome in the warm aromas of their favourite meal, as Scooters Pizza has recently opened a store in the area. Mokakole Mapetla is the proud new owner of Scooters Pizza Fairlands and he is certainly looking forward to serving the community mouth-watering-wanting-more pizzas, outstanding service, and naturally, a slice of the good life.

“My team and I can’t wait to get the ovens going and we are all looking forward to becoming the fast food of choice within Fairlands,” says Mapetla.

Prior to opening up his own Scooters Pizza store, Mapetla worked as a dental therapist for ten years, which he says will serve in good stead when it comes to looking after his customers. Mapetla has always wanted to go into his own business and decided that a food franchise would be the way to go.

“It was a lengthy decision process because I wanted to make sure that I was getting involved in the right industry. I made a list of all pizza brands available in South Africa according to national footprint, investment amount required, and of course, the taste of a final product, and Scooters Pizza came out tops for me after ticking all the boxes. I now can proudly call myself a business owner of my own franchise,” he continues.

Mapetla believes that the key elements to running a successful business is the ability to conform and adapt to standardised business operations in order to satisfy customer needs and expectations. He adds that another key factor is willingness to work within a team, as the advantage of a franchised business is that every employee’s role is clearly defined in the operations manual, which makes it easy to identify the strengths and weaknesses of every employee.

Christo Calitz, CEO of Taste Holdings: Food Division says that Mapetla has taken on a great career choice. “We are very excited to welcome Mokakole to the Scooters Pizza family and we have no doubt that he will experience many happy years with us. Scooters Pizza offers its franchisees many opportunities to grow which will enable Mapetla to truly reach his career potential.”

Mapetla knows that owning his own business is a challenge unlike anything he has faced before; one that he is looking forward to conquering.

“I am beyond excited about my new adventure, and I am committed to providing Fairlands with only the best customer service and top quality food. Our entire team is looking forward to meeting everyone that walks through our doors and we invite you to come try some our delicious pizza, tasty wraps, pizones, subs and irresistible desserts,” he concludes.

Scooters Pizza is a people focussed company

Scooters makes pizza. It’s not an innovative idea that revolutionised the market but the franchise chain’s continued success in a tough market is down to a simple but often forgotten idea. Scooters Pizza is successful because it impresses with excellent service. This commitment to quality is a habit that has been instilled over years and is a passion that infuses all corners of the company but dedication to superior service is easier talked about than accomplished.

The trick is changing the company’s focus from what they produce to making their customers’ experience at their stores easier and more enjoyable.

Managing Executive of Scooters Pizza, Jeanne Geldenhuys believes that while good branding plays a role in business success, it is active and involved employees who drive and strengthen the message tied up in the Scooters Pizza brand. She knows that customer perception plays a big role in a purchasing decision and if customers are not happy with their experience in-store, then ultimate it is the chain that suffers.

She believes it is what sets Scooters Pizza apart. “We have benefitted from giving our staff the tools to create their own success and in return we have dynamic involved employees who view our success as their own.”

Scooters Pizza understands that people are the essence of a successful business as they are the link between the brand and the customer experience of the brand. It is through enthusiastic employees that customers experience and live the authenticity and passion of the brand.

The pizza giant’s continued success in a tough economy is down to a culture that focusses on its employees, and it’s a culture that brings customers through the doors again and again. Since its inception, the company’s founding members understood that recruiting and retaining the best talent available is the key to success. It has allowed them to be able to adapt and thrive where competitors have stumbled.

Managers are encouraged to interact with people they supervise, to share knowledge and to impart experience. It is a collaboration that works both ways. Employees understand the goal they are working towards and managers develop an understanding of the skills and potential of staff and how to align them with current and future objectives.

For the Scooters Pizza management mistakes made are a learning experience that strengthens the company in the long run. It’s a learning curve that allows all employees to learn the business without fear that mistakes will be punished. Geldenhuys goes on to explain that with this freedom comes responsibility.

“On the same hand our employees are trained to understand that they will be held responsible for their actions. Once they accept responsibility, then we, as management and customers, expect them to meet those goals. We believe in the importance of accountability. People have to be able to believe that you will deliver what you’ve promised, whatever that is.”

Scooters Pizza employees know that believing in this ethos is easy, rewarding and normal business practice.

“Always view your team and business through a human coloured lens. Always ask yourself how do I keep them in the loop, listened to, appropriately equipped and responsibly led? Every business is unique with its own strengths, challenges and priorities but if you get the right people, the rest will follow,” Geldenhuys concludes.
